Gold Star Families – Memorial for those left behind.

On this Veteran day weekend, let me say first and foremost THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE VETS! If it was not for people with patriotic hearts, serving their family, neighbors and country our Freedom would be nothing more than a catch phrase on a post card.

If you have not heard, there is a foundation for our fallen who paid the ultimate price for you and I. Hershel Williams who is a Medal of Honor recipient from WWII.

Mr. Williams’ actions, commitment to his fellow service members, and heroism were recognized on October 5, 1945, when he received the Congressional Medal of Honor from President Truman at the White House.

He has a vision on how to honor these Families, which has never been done before. In WWI – people placed a flag similar to the flag at the top of this post in their window when a family member was at war. The star was blue to signify that they were in battle… if someone paid the ultimate price, the star was covered with a gold sticker of sorts. This represented a fallen warrior.

Woody’s vision of honoring and paying tribute to these Gold Star Families “for their sacrifice of one of their loved ones has become a reality”.
