The New Wall Poster – 2015 911 GT3 RS
It seems like the early 80’s again with the announcement of the 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and it brings back childhood memories. The economy is sputtering, we are at all time highs for unemployment, people’s hopes for the future are at all time lows, and the middle east is in turmoil. I’m waiting on another version of Miami Vice to be announced any day now. Just like the early 80’s, it seems the “average” super-car is being reborn. An Alpine Lamborghini Countach or a Porsche 911 Turbo were the posters of choice that filled many bedroom walls in the 80’s and it seems fitting for this occasion that I might need once again to order a poster or two. Let’s break out some scotch tape…

In my opinion there are three new vehicles which should be wall posters today; the 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the 2016 Mustang GT350. Today the focus of discussion is the 2015 911 GT3 RS, it sole purpose I think was to fill bedroom walls with highway and track dreams of what could be. Just like the super-cars of the 80’s it seems this machine not only achieved the next level, it seems to be manufactured out of unobtanium @ $175K (check out the Porsche web site for more info). Only a few will be able to afford it.

The GT3 has always been a true track car. You could drive it on the street but at a cost of beating you to death. The welded suspension (almost) is at home on the track and not the street. Until I read a test drive in Car & Driver or Porsche drops one at my front door, I would expect the same direction as the previous generation (a track queen).
The changes to the 2015 model has sharpened the sword. My eyes were drawn to the multiple slats in the front fenders to remove heat and drag from the front wheels and brakes. It has a larger intake on the side to cool the engine and a major rear wing from “Wingo” in the movie Cars. Finally you see the Hotwheels like 21 inch wheels. I am certain if you had a Hotwheels track it would handle the upside down loop like another Sunday drive.
It might be a little overkill but with the magnesium roof, carbon trunk lid and a roll bar, it is set for the track. This mix is needed if you are going to sell several hundred thousand wall posters, you need to look the part. I am sure the Porsche 911 GT3 RS will deliver in person and on a bedroom wall, creating dreams for kids and adults alike. I will have one soon, uh… yes the poster.
